Organisation

The institute is directed by the Director. The Director accounts for all issues concerning the institute to the Kuratorium of the institute. The Kuratorium is the supervising committee with leading and controlling function. The Wissenschaftliche Beirat is the external advisory board, the Forschungsausschuss is an internal advisory board of the institute, both of which consult with the Director.

From the organisatoric point of view the research of the institute is split in

• research of methods which is done in five sections and
• topical research fields which are attributed to Forschungsschwerpunkte (specific research topics). 

The topical research fields cover themes of current scientific importance and serve the needs of society.
