Self-organized crustal evolution using magnetic data

Magnetic measurements in the southern Himalayas, India.

A fundamental challenge to the interpretation of gravity and magnetic anomalies exists in the identification of different source rocks and their depths. In this project, algorithms, established for the analysis of non-linear or chaotic processes, are modified and applied to magnetic anomalies with the aim of better estimating the depths of the corresponding sources and discriminating between natural and anthropogenic causes. Furthermore, classical forward modelling is carried out. The databases comprise of ground-based observations and downhole logging.
