SISSY (Seismic Impulse Source SYstem)
Areas that are difficult or impossible to access for vehicles and other heavy equipent require a manageable seismic source. Previously hammer blows were often the solution, but they suffer from power limitations and repeatability problems. To solve this problem alternative, an impulse source was developed. Its energy, enough for a survey depth of approximately 500 m, comes from a cartridge of only 8 g propellant (Dynergit from Dynamit Nobel). Due to its construction and electrical ignition, it is very safe and can be used without special permissions, even under strict German regulations.
